Our biogas desulfurization agent is a specially engineered solid iron oxide media designed to remove hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) from raw biogas streams with high efficiency and long operational life. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly corrosive, toxic gas present in most raw biogas. Concentrations as low as 200 ppm can damage compressors, engines, and CHP units while creating serious safety hazards for on-site personnel. Our desulfurization agent reacts with H₂S through a dry chemisorption process, converting it into stable iron sulfide compounds — safely and without water consumption.

Service life depends on inlet H₂S concentration, gas flow rate, and bed volume. For typical agricultural biogas (1,000–2,000 ppm H₂S), a properly sized bed lasts 3–6 months. We provide free bed sizing calculations with every inquiry — just share your gas volume and H₂S concentration.

Can the media be regenerated to extend its life?

Yes. The spent media can be partially regenerated by controlled air exposure (oxygen-assisted regeneration). Typically 2–4 regeneration cycles are achievable before the media needs full replacement. We supply operating guidelines for safe regeneration procedures with every order.

Is the spent media hazardous waste?

Spent media contains iron sulfide compounds. In most jurisdictions it is classified as non-hazardous solid waste and can be landfilled. However, it must be wetted before disposal to prevent pyrophoric ignition risk. Always follow local environmental regulations. We provide SDS and disposal guidance documentation with all shipments.

What inlet H₂S concentrations can this product handle?

Our standard media handles inlet concentrations from below 500 ppm up to 5,000 ppm H₂S. For very high-concentration streams (>5,000 ppm), we recommend a two-stage setup or using our liquid desulfurization solution as the primary treatment stage.
